About Me
My name is Richelle Barrett, and this portfolio is a collection of work done for Multimedia Storytelling at BSU.
I am the face behind “ Harvesting Hope”. As a rancher and cowgirl at heart, I understand the challenges women in agriculture face— because I have been there myself.
I know first hand how isolating and lonely ranch and farm life can be. I was born and raised on a family operated commercial cattle ranch, and eventually married and came back to the operation. After growing our own cattle herd and building a life around ranching, my husband and I were forced to sell our cattle in 2022 due to drought and other extenuating circumstances.
I’ve lived with anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember, and have come to realize that we all carry burdens that our friends, family, and neighbors know nothing about. I understand the heartbreak of succession plans that fall through, and the pain of having to let go of dreams that no longer exist. It is my goal to share hope and faith with others walking through similar journeys, and to hold space for others who may be navigating life in agriculture. I am so glad you are here.
